Tonight, whether you have Halloween plans or not, find a little time for yourself before bed. In that moment, ask yourself what you’re going to leave behind in October.
This weekend, November arrives with more seasonal changes and opportunities for a fresh start. By leaving behind certain things that no longer serve us, we can approach the new month with a little more optimism and enthusiasm.
As the end of the year is not too far away, you can leave behind both little things and some larger things that have happened throughout the year.
Our planner is relatively simple, but it will help you identify certain things you simply don’t need to bring into the new month with you.
So take a little time tonight. Have that honest conversation with yourself. This is an opportunity to go into the new month feeling a little lighter.

If you do use our planner, which you can with the link below, you can use the suggestions to guide you. You can write down more than one idea for all, but if you want to keep things simple just choose one thing in each section.
Identify the following:
- A habit or routine you’re ready to move forward from.
- An unrealistic expectation you have for yourself.
- Something you’re overthinking.
- Something that, now you’re looking back, isn’t that significant.
- A setback from the month that you’ve overcome and you’re ready to move forward from.
- Something that didn’t go as planned in October, but you can absolutely make progress on in November.
You can find the ‘what you’re leaving behind in October’ printable here.
Don’t fret if you can’t find answers to all the ideas. Even identifying one thing to leave in October can give you clarity and lift a little weight of your shoulders.
Once the new month begins, you can plan, reflect, and embrace the new month with one or more of our November journaling ideas.
