As September approaches, it can feel like summer has come and gone before we had time to do all the things we wanted to do.

Especially when looking at everyone’s vacation videos and photos, it can feel like you haven’t done enough this summer.

You can use these ideas either as a conversation game, journaling prompts, or a 30-day September challenge. Use them to revisit the past summer and lots of the simple joys. Many of these we’ve overlooked or forgotten about.

If you haven’t been on vacation, that doesn’t mean this summer hasn’t been full of joy and beautiful moments. It’s simply about looking in the right places.

The first positive thing you think of about this summer.

How you celebrated July 4th.

Someone you met outside of the house and what you did.

Something you achieved this summer.

A walk you took.

A place you drove to.

What about your backyard or balcony was beautiful.

Somewhere you visited, no matter how close or far.

Something you didn’t do this summer you’re happy about.

A photo on your phone from the last three months.

A time you laughed.

A time you sat outside.

The largest number of people you were with and where.

A sunset you watched.

A night sky you gazed up at.

A moment you felt loved.

The closest you were to water.

The furthest you traveled from your home.

Someone you saw for the first time this year.

A local event that happened.

The most beautiful flowers you saw.

An event or gathering you hosted.

A memorable meal from this summer.

What you loved about your home this summer.

Something you fixed this summer.

Wildlife you heard or saw.

A conversation that went on well past sunset.

An afternoon or evening with family.

A moment in the sunshine that was just for you.

Finish the sentence “This summer, I’m proud that I…’
