Even as the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, October and the fall give us opportunities to see our towns and neighborhoods in a whole new way.
The October ‘your town isn’t boring’ challenge is a great way to get you out of the house, find some hidden gems, and see where you live in the beauty of fall.

This month, try to find:
- The most scenic place and go there for sunset.
- A new restaurant to go to for lunch or dinner.
- A local community event to attend.
- A local park or trees to look at fall foliage.
- A nearby lake, river, or fountain.
- Street art, an art installation, or an art gallery.
- Three independent shops.
- A bakery where you can try a fall-themed treat.
- An interesting building to photograph.
- A scenic path for a bike ride.
- Live music in the afternoon or evening.
- A coffee shop you haven’t been to before.
- A building with a nice view.
- A fall fair, festival, or farmers’ market.
- A beautiful place you’ve never walked around before.
- An ice cream shop to try a flavor you’ve never had.
- A place to sit outside in the afternoon.
- A local landmark you’ve never properly explored.
- A local market or event you’ve never been to.
- A beautiful place to watch the sunrise.
